Balkan carving contest “Carving Festival of Laughter”
Balkan carving contest “Carving Festival of Laughter” will be held in Gabrovo on 20 and 21 May 2017, within the International Festival of Humor and Satire and we hope to become a traditional event, recognizable all around Europe.
The Organizers of the event are Gabrovo Municipality and Bulgarian Carving Association.
There will be an exhibition within the International Festival of Humor and Satire with engraved fruits and vegetables. The connection between artworks and this year Carnival motto “Da Izkukurigame ot smyah” must be visible.
All contestants should prepare their humorous artwork and comic characters in advance, with personal popular joke interpretation from the region, provided by the organizers in advance.
The contestants will be able to finish and expose their fruit and vegetable compositions within 3 hours. The size of the sculptures should be 80 centimeters at the base and 1.20 m. in height. The artworks will be exposed in an exhibition within the day – 21 th May 2017, starts from 11 o’clock till 14 o’clock, only one day difference after the Carnival parade. The winners will be announced on 21 th May and will be presented on a special ceremony at 17 o’clock on “Vazrazhdane” Square. The contest is open for all comers, without restrictions of age, gender, fruit and vegetables selection of the contestants.
